Bat Rules

 All non‐wood bats “MUST” meet 1.15 BPF (Bat Performance Factor) for the life of the bat and “MUST” possess a “clearly identifiable” manufacture’s certification stamp. This will include 2 ¼” and 2 5/8” barrel bats.
 The diameter of the barrel of the bat shall be no larger than 2 5/8”.
 BBCOR bats are legal for use in ages 5‐12.
 Bats that are broken, cracked, dented or deface the ball are illegal.
 There shall be no devices, attachments or wrappings that cause the handle to become flush with the knob.
 Molded grips and Choke up knobs are illegal.

So, for boys moving up from coach pitch last year, many of you have 2 1/4” barrel bats – if you can make it work (not mandatory by any means!), moving up to 2 1/2” or 2 5/8” will make a tremendous difference in the quality of contact (driving the ball), as well as give your son a better chance of making contact when they face youth pitching. Dick’s Sporting Goods has been kind enough to offer GBL 10% off coupons (15% for baseball apparel) for bats, cleats, gloves, coolers, and training aids. Here’s a link to the coupon sheet:http://app.dcsg.com/couponsheet/?s=435672. If you know what length/weight (drop) you need, the Dicks’ website is handy for ordering a specific model bat (they have a handful of approved bats for $50-80 before discount), but if you don’t know what you need, ask for help at the store and they’ll be happy to assist. Generally speaking, you want a bat that reaches your son’s belt when stood up next to him, and that is light enough for him to comfortably swing and to hold straight out in front of him.
